All Creatures Great and Small Break
All Creatures Great and Small made a welcome return to our TV screens on 1st September 2020 (Tuesdays Channel 5 at 9pm). Channel 5’s reboot of the hit TV series, that originally aired on the BBC from 1978, looks set to be another success. The world’s most well-known vet, James Herriot (Alf Wight OBE), created stories based on his life as a country vet and his popular books, that have been enjoyed by millions, are still in print.
Newton House is less than 30 minutes drive from the World of James Herriot in Thirsk, the visitor attraction created in the original surgery and home of the vet and author. The real places, and the locations where filming has happened, are also all on our doorstep.

In these troubled times, there’s much to be said about how these stories of a time gone by can bring comfort and enjoyment. Whether you are a James Herriot fan or not, a visit to Herriot Country with its wonderful scenery is a must. Newton House is a member of Herriot Country Tourism and has teamed up with the World of James Herriot to provide Newton House guests with a special entry package for our ‘All Creatures Great and Small Break’. Book for two nights or more and receive a discounted entry price into the World of James Herriot.
