‘Breakfast for Locals’ introduced by ‘Best Yorkshire Breakfast’ Award Winner Newton House

Newton House Knaresborough has been inundated with congratulatory messages since winning the 2019 Yorkshire Post and Deliciouslyorkshire Taste Awards for the ‘Best Yorkshire Breakfast’. Amongst this, many requests for breakfast bookings from local residents of Knaresborough and Harrogate area who want to try the breakfast themselves. In response it is opening up breakfast service to people not staying at the four star B&B.

“It is excellent news that people locally have recognised that we serve the very best products and never compromise on quality. Newton House has become a ‘destination’ for breakfast with overnight regular guests returning because they love the food I serve and now it is so good to know that our local community wants to try it for themselves too. We look forward to welcoming them.” Commented owner Denise Carter.

The 12 bedroom, AA four gold star guest house, which caters for leisure and business visitors to the area, is owned and managed by Denise and her team of ‘Newton House Ladies’.  Denise makes many of the breakfast dishes herself, including granola, yoghurt, and fruit compotes baked in her Aga each morning, plus all the marmalade and preserves.

‘Breakfast for Locals’ is available subject to availability and must be booked in advance. Bookings by telephone on 01423 863539 or email to and cost £15 per person.

“I couldn’t have won without all of our amazing Yorkshire suppliers and should like to pay tribute to them: from ‘Huttons’ butchers and game dealers in Knaresborough with their free-range, rare breed bacon and sausages, and ‘Bleikers’ delicious smoked salmon, to ‘Darkwoods Coffee’, ‘Ian Taylor Eggs’ and ‘Organic Dales’ who deliver their delicious organic milk and ‘Acorn Dairies’ organic butter each week. And of course, my Newton House Ladies who work so hard to keep our high standards. Thanks also to one of my business guests who gave me the recipe for his sourdough bread, and more importantly, the ‘starter’ that dates back 200 years.” Denise added.
