Newton House Knaresborough Wins ‘Best Yorkshire Breakfast’ Award

Newton House Knaresborough is the winner of the 2019 Yorkshire Post and Deliciouslyorkshire Taste Awards for the ‘Best Yorkshire Breakfast’.

The award was presented to owner Denise Carter at the Awards ceremony on Wednesday 6th November 2019.

“We are delighted to receive this award. I believe in serving the very best products I can and never compromise on quality. Newton House has become a ‘destination’ for breakfast with many guests returning because they love the food I serve. Our business guests in particular often comment that our breakfasts are the best they have ever had.” Commented Denise Carter after receiving the Award.

The 12 bedroom, AA four gold star guest house, which caters for leisure and business visitors to the area, is owned and managed by Denise and her team of ‘Newton House Ladies’.  Denise makes many of the breakfast dishes herself, including granola, yoghurt, and fruit compotes baked in her Aga each morning, plus all the marmalade and preserves.

“I couldn’t have won without all of our amazing Yorkshire suppliers and should like to pay tribute to them: from ‘Huttons’ butchers and game dealers in Knaresborough with their free range, rare breed bacon and sausages, and ‘Bleikers’ delicious smoked salmon, to ‘Darkwoods Coffee’, ‘Ian Taylor Eggs’ and ‘Organic Dales’ who deliver their delicious organic milk and ‘Acorn Dairies’ organic butter each week. And of course my Newton House Ladies who work so hard to keep our high standards. Thanks also to one of my business guests who gave me the recipe for his sourdough bread, and more importantly, the ‘starter’ that dates back 200 years.” Denise added.

“We are delighted to receive this award as our breakfasts are probably to most often commented upon by guests and especially by business guests who often say how much nicer they are than many standard hotel breakfasts.” Commented Denise Carter after receiving the Award.

“The key to breakfasts at Newton House is quality and flexibility. Quality ingredients, including bacon and sausages from free-range, rare breed pigs, are sourced locally, and, as well as granola and fruit compotes baked in the AGA each morning, I make all the preserves and marmalade myself. We also offer flexible breakfast times to allow guests an early start or a lazy lie-in.” added Denise.
